D_052 Complex Figure_Ground Relationships:The Hague_Holland

Brian Johnson . Strong project.

Mahesh Senagala . Strong project. Well considered and researched, although not entirely original. Proposes alternative approaches to visualizing and intervening in comlex urban conditions. A good and definite movement away from the outmoded "figure-ground" gestalt to "field-plateau" (my terms) paradigm. The idea of multiple grounds and multiple forces acting three dimensionally to determine an almost rhizomatic urban intervention. Dynamic diagramming techniques are very interesting. Clear process and presentation. I suppose we can call this "Parametric Urbanism!?" Good work!

Hani Rashid . A seemingly complete project from front to back, however the architecture leaves a little to be desired given the depth of concept. How is it that from such thorough analysis emerge banal building types such as the cube on its axis or urban interventions that could have emerged without such an effort ( last board ). The truly remarkable architecture is missing however hinted at through the 'pre-tectonic' analysis.

Chris Sharples . This project in the infoArch.Pro group displayed some complex spatial and conceptual relationships in a coherent manner through a mix of diagrams, images, text, and animations working at a variety of scales. The project is very open to a non-linear reading. One can scan it quite easily to get a good over view of the design criteria.

Carmina Sanchez . Graphically well composed. Good use of media. Easy to navigate. What is the significance of the project?
