Extensive
application of information technology influences the design of libraries in
current time. In order to retrieve information, the user and the source need
not be in the same place. Thus, the necessity for a physical space is eliminated.
The architectural design seems to be slipping away.
There is a need for a new definition
of tools with which the architect thinks and acts.
The
suggested concept is conveyed in
two ways:
the wormand cells
as a representation of the virtual coexistence of the information flow and
the act of reading
and a materialization of the worm and the cells into actual spaces, to promote
the sense of community and privacy, in the case of the NTUA
library of architecture
