The
term "market-place" or "civic center" can not fully describe the essence of
the ancient Agora. It is a place where people get together, they gather as a
large body of free and equal citizens, all taking a full and active part in
political and social life, guiding the architectural growth of the city. Similar
events unfold in the public space of the library, forming a perpetual flow of
inner space. The information enters the space in an unrestrained way. The user
drags selectively the desired fragments and withdraws in private cells for creative
self-education. The first phase of a Klepsydra
has been accomplished. An opposite gesture would be the outflow of the product
– knowledge, new ideas or a project– towards the outside public space,
virtual or actual.
