when needed. Later, the goal may have been the protection
of the valuable rolls from destruction. Only later, possibly during the era
of Augustus or Constantine the aim was giving the opportunity to read.
Later, at the years of the Benedicts, the library’s main purpose was the
reproduction of the documents so that the knowledge can be passed
along.
