Your best source of information for all things related to the amazing WebPAD™ family of products....

...this is only the beginning.

On November 13, 1998 the Internet experience for the masses began to evolve... again!

The intention of this site is to provide a single source of information as these new Internet appliances emerge into the consumer market.

We'll track all the news and follow the various mutations of the WebPAD as other consumer electronics manufacturers take up the initiative to make easy, fast, easy, inexpensive, easy, rugged, easy, portable, easy, untethered, easy Internet appliance for the non-computer masses. Did I mention easy?

Our first prediction? Look for a few flavors of "pads" to be a hit under the Christmas tree next year. Can you say Panasonic? Or Palm (hmmm... PadPilot?) Or... gulp... AT&T?

Since we have yet to hear any news of a manufacturer licensing the WebPAD design from Cyrix, what brand name do you want to see on a WebPAD you would purchase?

A more comprehensive survey will be online soon...

Ever think about using the Internet "on the fly" to look up information, or send a quick e-mail? How many times have you not gone online because of the inconvenience of sitting down at your PC, turning it on, waiting for it to boot, clicking on an ISP icon, and waiting again for your modem to dialin and connect?

But imagine simply picking up a device the size of a clipboard, switching it on,  and being instantly online from the comfort of your couch, kitchen table or backyard lounge chair. What if you could access the Internet when you wanted, where you wanted, without using a PC or an appliance that competes with your TV program?

By this time next year, you'll have a portable Internet access device - developed from a product idea brought to you by Cyrix.

On November 13, 1998, Cyrix announced and demonstrated the first prototype of their WebPAD Internet access device at COMDEX in Las Vegas. It is provided as a reference design to consumer electronics manufacturers to develop their own version of the device.

Come back often to find all the latest news about the evolution of this exciting new product family!
