Plasma display
Operating under the same basic principle as a fluorescent lamp or neon
tube, a plasma display consists of approximately one million hair-thin
fluorescent tubes set on a substrate; the light emitted by each tube is
controlled to form a video display. As plasma displays can be produced
in large size with a thin profile, they are expected to come into wide
use as picture screens for the wall-mounted TVs of the future.
DNP, working in collaboration with NHK, has already succeeded in
developing a 40-inch plasma color display panel.
