Component #2 -- E-Study Carrel
  features
  Portable Electronic Study Carrels
panel detail Each carrel employs an advanced display technology currently under development by the computer industry. The screen material is known as a light-emitting polymer, which is essentially glowing plastic.

These screens will be very thin (2-3mm). lightweight, and able to be applied to many surfaces and shapes. They can also be touch-sensitive.

The proposed device is simply a folding plastic board, coated with this material. The board is just under an inch in thickness, with sockets on all four edges. These provide plugs for power and data connections, as well as connection points for joining two or more together.

In its most basic form, the panel resembles a grade school science-fair display board. The side panels simply open to an obtuse angle, and the display sits upon a table to be viewed much like a computer monitor. A lightweight frame behind it provides resistance for touch-screen pressure
