About

MISSION

ACADIA was formed in the early 1980's for the purpose of facilitating communication and critical thinking regarding the use of computers in architecture, planning and building science. A particular focus is education and the software, hardware and pedagogy involved in education.

The organization is also committed to the research and development of computer aides that enhance design creativity, rather than simply production, and that aim at contributing to the construction of humane physical environments.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to educators, students, and professionals who believe in the need for a quality education in the area of computer-aided design and are willing to contribute time and energy to its development. Members come from all over the world, including the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim. Because ACADIA focuses on education and research, most of its members are affiliated with colleges and universities, but members also come from professional design firms and the software industry.

GOVERNANCE

Incorporated in the state of Delaware as a not-for-profit corporation, ACADIA is an all-volunteer organization governed by elected officers, an elected steering committee, and appointed ex-officio officers.
